Toshiba Cell Regza 55X1 HDTV introduction

The new Toshiba CELL REGZA 55X1 LCD HDTV is the flagship of theToshiba REGZA line-up and offers viewers state-of-the-art picture quality, including a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, and supports this with ultra-high-speed processing and recording, enhanced navigation and seamless network interactivity. The CELL REGZA 55X1 will be available in the Japanese market from the beginning of December.
The heart of CELL REGZA is Toshiba’s CELL Platform. A combination of the high speed parallel processing of the Cell Broadband Engine™, specially developed for demanding multimedia applications, and Toshiba’s advanced image-processing algorithms, the CELL Platform achieves an arithmetic processing capability approximately 143 times that of the current top-of-the-line REGZA TV, allowing it to support unrivaled image-enhancing capabilities. These include:
• CELL Platform Super Resolution Technology that builds on Toshiba’s current, super resolution technology to offer unmatched picture quality.
• Self-congruency, a dedicated process that improves image quality at the edge of the picture.
• Enhanced color and brightness balance that improves picture color and definition.

Pentax K-x digital SLR with HD video

Pentax announced the K-x entry-level digital SLR camera. This latest Pentax camera offers high-end features including Live View and HD video. And, since there’s no rule that SLR cameras must come in black only, the K-x will be available in a choice of white or black, as well as special, limited edition red and navy.
The PENTAX K-x offers photographic performance that challenges higher class DSLR models and offers several features that set this camera apart in the entry-level category:
• High resolution 12.4 megapixel CMOS image sensor features sensor-shift Shake Reduction for stabilized image and video capture up to 4 stops max.
• Large 2.7 inch LCD features Live View with contrast, phase difference, and Face Detection autofocus (up to 16 faces).

Microsoft Zune HD touch-screen media player introduction

The new Zune HD touch-screen media player from Microsoft is now available at retail, and a powerful update to the Zune PC software is free for download. For the first time, standard- and high-definition (HD) movies can be purchased or rented*1 through the Zune Marketplace online store, and a new streaming music service on Zune.net lets Zune Pass subscribers listen to music from a Web browser.
The updates to the Zune hardware, software and online services released today, combined with a new Zune video offering on Xbox LIVE coming later this fall, bring customers instant access to their favorite music and videos anywhere*2, across their mobile device, PC and TV.
“With today’s announcement, the Zune business is growing into a comprehensive entertainment service that’s no longer tied to any one screen or device,” said Enrique Rodriguez, corporate vice president of the TV, Video and Music Business at Microsoft. “Zune lets consumers connect to their music, TV shows and movie content and enjoy it on the three screens they use every day.”

JVC HD Everio GZ-HM400 video camera introduction

JVC announced a new video camera that offers the performance, features and handling demanded by video enthusiasts. The new JVC HD Everio GZ-HM400, available immediately, emphasizes image quality and usability in a design that videographers will find allows comfortable extended use.
The HD Everio GZ-HM400, which records to an SD/SDHC card and includes 32GB of internal memory, features a 10.3-megapixel CMOS sensor that delivers nine-megapixel still images and 1080 TV lines of horizontal resolution for Full HD video. High-speed recording of up to 600fps is also possible for slow-motion playback of sports and other fast action. The camera’s features are easily accessible through an intuitive user interface that features analog-like dial adjustment and direct-access buttons.
The core image sensing device for this camera is a 1/2.33-inch 10.3-megapixel CMOS sensor with Bayer Array RGB Color Filter. This translates into obvious advantages in digital still photography, as nine-megapixel stills are possible without any need for interpolation.

JVC updates its D-ILA home theater projectors line

JVC updates its line of D-ILA home theater projectors with the introduction of six new models, each offering the high native contrast that has made JVC projectors top-selling favorites among the most demanding home theater enthusiasts. The new line includes four THX® Certified projectors and all six achieve unprecedented contrast ratios without the need for artificial contrast enhancing techniques, such as a dynamic iris. In fact, JVC’s new top-end model boasts a native contrast ratio of 70,000:1 - the highest among all currently available home theater projectors.
The new projectors are the DLA-RS35, DLA-RS25 and DLA-RS15 to be marketed by JVC’s professional products group, and the DLA-HD990, DLA-HD950 and DLA-HD550, available through JVC’s consumer electronics group. All six projectors feature the same D-ILA technology and features found in previous models, but add improvements in both performance and usability.

Samsung A600 Home Theater Projector

Yamaha RX-V2065 network AV receiver introduction

Yamaha Electronics Corporation its RX-V2065 7.1-channel network AV receiver (130 W x 7; MSRP: $1399.95). Also being introduced are two new Blu-ray players, the BD-S1900 and BD-S1065 (MSRP: $699.95 and $599.95, respectively), designed to complement the company’s new and existing AV receivers.
The BD-S1900 has custom installation features to match the company’s higher end AV receivers, including the RX-V1900, RX-V3900 and RX-Z7. The BD-S1065’s features and styling match with the newly introduced RX-V2065 network AV receiver as well as the existing RX-V65 series AV receivers. Members of the press are invited to see these new products at the company’s 2009 CEDIA booth (#143) in Atlanta, September 10 – 12.
