Sony BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray Disc MegaChanger

Sony today announced the new BDP-CX960 and the “Elevated Standard” (ES) BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray Disc™ MegaChangers.
The company also announced the BDP-S1000ES single disc ES player expanding the Sony’s Blu-ray Disc line to 13 models offering a broad set of performance and features.
The Blu-ray Disc MegaChanger models store and play 400 Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and CDs, allowing consumers to relocate their disc library to a convenient, easy-to-access location.
They also feature the ability to download information from Gracenote’s MusicID® and VideoID™ products to organize movies and music. When a disc is inserted into the device, Gracenote technology automatically downloads information across an existing Internet broadband service and saves title, director, some cast information, release year, and genre information for most titles, allowing users to easily navigate the library intuitively through the player’s xross media bar™ menu system.

Samsung HT-BD3252 home theater system introduction

The new Samsung HT-BD3252 combines a high quality viewing experience, with powerful audio and an array of advanced networking options in a boldly designed player that can help convert almost any living space into a premium HD showroom.

OLED revenue expected to be $7 Billion by 2016

In its latest Quarterly OLED Shipment and Forecast Report, DisplaySearch forecasts the total OLED display market will grow to $7.1 billion by 2016, from $0.6 billion in 2008, with a CAGR of 36%.
DisplaySearch also reported that in Q1’09 worldwide active matrix (AM) OLED revenue surpassed passive matrix (PM) OLED for the first time. AMOLED revenue is increasing strongly due to strong mobile phone main display shipments, as Nokia, Samsung Electronics, and Sony Ericsson heavily promoted AMOLED mobile phones in first half of 2009. More than 10 mobile phone models with AMOLED main displays have been released in 2009.
PMOLED has been the revenue leader in the OLED display market, driven by high unit shipments. However, in Q1′09, PMOLED shipments were down significantly due to weakness in MP3 and mobile phone sub-display applications.

Sony HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V HD camcorders

Sony announced its new HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V Handycam® camcorders, which capture full 1920×1080 high-definition video and up to 12-megapixel photos on a 64GB or 32GB internal flash memory, respectively, offering up to 25 hours of HD video (LP mode).
“These models combine the best in digital imaging technology, strengthening Sony’s industry leadership and meeting demand for both quality camcorders and HD video,” said Kelly Davis, director of the camcorder business for Sony Electronics. “Expanding our lineup to include Handycam camcorders with large capacity embedded flash memory allows us to offer consumers flexible recording solutions concentrated in a very portable, compact body.”
For optimal playback, the HDR-CX520V and HDR-CX500V camcorders feature 60p output, which automatically converts content to 60 progressive frames per second when connected to a compatible high-definition television.

Panasonic 85 inch Full HD Plasma display introduction

Panasonic Corporation announced its 85-inch plasma display as part of its new 12 series range which incorporates NeoPDP technology for high-image quality in full HD. The company will release it globally through commercial routes in autumn this year.
The new plasma display features a screen size equivalent to four 42-inch panels and despite this size the NeoPDP technology offers twice the brightness efficiency of previous models with less power consumption and without compromising on image quality.
Enrique Robledo, Panasonic’s Plasma Marketing Manager said: “With the launch of the 85” Plasma, Panasonic will continue leading in the large format display market. Together with the new developments in plasma technology we are fully supporting the requirements for screen sizes over 42”.
